Hmm, so I recently sold a few drawings that I did years ago to a customer on my Etsy site
[link] I later found out that apparently this same customer is some guy that owns an art gallery in Atlanta and is buying pieces from artists on Etsy and reselling them in his gallery. I haven't confronted him directly but I know this because I noticed his comments about others pieces that they were selling great in his gallery. So, I don't really mind about him having my pieces (they're just b&w sketches on sketch paper from like 7 yrs ago, I signed my name big and in black ink on the images as well) but I feel very odd knowing that he's probably turning around and selling them for a possible profit in his gallery.
Anyways my point in this rant is...does this seem right? For someone to buy work for a cheaper price and sell it elsewhere for a possible profit? I thought legitimate galleries were supposed to offer a commission to artists they represent and then split the profits. I'm tempted to get in touch with the gallery to see what their deal is...thought I'd wait to see if this keeps up with him.
What do you all think? Or am I being paranoid? Either way comments are encouraged!
